PLEASE NOTE: NCDOT has begun widening work on U.S. 321 in Caldwell County. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, NCDOT recommends that visitors traveling North to Blowing Rock use the following detour route:

• Take N.C. 18 to U.S. 421 in Wilkesboro.
• Follow U.S. 421 north to U.S. 321 in Boone.
• U.S. 321 leads to Blowing Rock.

The detour is necessary between 12noon and 2pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays, as portions of Hwy 321 are completely closed during these times. The detour is marked with signs along the way.
